19 years Ed Parker’s American Kenpo

Cross-training in Muay Tai, Kickboxing, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Mr. Wilson started training in Judo at the age of 15 by a friend while in high school.  At the age of 17 he was introduced to American Kenpo by another friend while in High School and was intrigued by the physics and scientific concepts as they applied to the human body.  In 1991, Mr. Wilson started formally training in a Kenpo studio in Anna, Texas under the instruction of Mr. Brant Hickman, 2nd Degree Black Belt.  Mr. Hickman was a student under Sifu Brian Duffy and SGM Ed Parker.  In the mid 90’s, Mr. Hickman closed the doors to his studio and Mr. Wilson was forced to search elsewhere for training.  After visiting and training with multiple other Kenpo schools in the Dallas/Forth Worth Metro, he decided to start training with Sifu Brian Duffy in Austin, Texas in 2002.  Mr. Wilson currently holds the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in the American Kenpo Federation.  Mr. Wilson has been teaching Ed Parkers American Kenpo Karate in Edmond Oklahoma since 2003 and frequently cross-trains in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

25 years Ed Parker’s Kenpo

Mr. Silva started his Chinese Kenpo training in 1980 at age 12 in Hawthorne California. A member of the Karate Connection, he was taught Ed Parkers system of Kenpo by Mr. Chuck Sullivan 10th Dan and Mr. Vic LeRoux 10th Dan.  After achieving his Junior Black Belt, Mr. Silva went on to college to pursue his commission as an officer in the United States Air Force.  While on Active Duty in Germany, he discovered the Karate Connection became the International Karate Connection Association (IKCA) and had started an effective distance learning program.  After reuniting with Mr. LeRoux, he began his journey under the IKCA and eventually earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt through the program  Mr. Silva is now passing the art of Kenpo to his children Timothy and Brianna.  He assists Disciple Martial Arts by participating and instructing in our adult and children’s programs where he frequently brings his own insights as well as his children so they may all enjoy the brotherhood of Kenpo.
